About me: I have a PhD in Psychology and my thesis explored the attitudes and expectations of young Australians towards their future work and family roles. Through three interlinked studies, I found that men continue to have traditional expectations of their work and family roles. Women would like to pursue careers and also have children, but they do not expect their future male partners to take on a share of the caring and domestic work to allow them to do that. Young men expressed the desire for their future female partners to have successful careers, but had no intention of changing their own working lives to accommodate family responsibilities.
I have worked in federal government and universities in roles focused on the development of gender equality, and I currently work as an independent consultant to government, higher education and corporates.
